New Principal Chief Commercial Manager for Southern Railway

Shri J. Vinayan assumed charge as the new Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM) of Southern Railway on 1st of July 2025. Prior to taking over as Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Southern Railway, he held the post of Senior Deputy General Manager, South Central Railway. Shri J. Vinayan succeeds Shri Beji George who superannuated in May 2025.

Mr. Vinayan is an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) of the 1993 UPSC Civil Services Batch. He has held several key assignments such as Chief Vigilance Officer with FACT (PSU) Ltd., and has held various posts in Southern Railway including that of Chief Passenger Transportation Manager, Chief Operations Manager/General, Chief Transportation Planning Manager, and Chief Commercial Manager/Passenger Marketing. He has also served as Senior Professor at IRITM, Lucknow (Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management) and was part of the initial pioneering team that introduced the Indian Railways e-ticketing service through IRCTC during 2002–2007.

Qualified in Cyber Laws and Management, Shri J. Vinayan is a Civil Engineering graduate from College of Engineering, Trivandrum. He holds a Ph.D. in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Indore, where his research on corruption and ethics in organizations earned national acclaim.

Notably, Shri J. Vinayan was conferred the National Award for Outstanding Service by the then Railway Minister in 2008. He has authored a widely recognized book ‘Ethics and Corruption – An Introduction’, and his research has contributed significantly to the development of the Integrity Index adopted by the Central Vigilance Commission.
