The gross originating revenue of Rs 5219 Crores, Freight Loading of 37.41 Million Tonnes, freight Revenue of Rs 3457.33 Cr and Rs 1485.21 Cr from Passenger segment registered during Apr to Jun of the current fiscal is the best ever in any financial year during the same period.
South Central Railway registers its best-ever performance revenue during the first three months of current financial year. The zone has registered Rs 5219 Crore of gross originating revenue during the period from April to June 2025, which is 1.2% more than the previous best of Rs 5,156 Crores registered during 2024-25. This has been backed up by originating passenger revenue of Rs 1485.21 Crores and freight revenue of Rs 3457.33 Crores during this period. Similarly, the Zone has achieved highest ever freight loading of 37.41 Million Tonnes which is 4% higher than the previous best of 35.89 MTs loaded in 2024-25.
The Zone is putting a special focus on improving freight basket by adding new streams of traffic and also new destinations, while strengthening the existing traffic. The continuous endeavor in this direction has resulted in the Zone recording its best-ever freight loading in the first 3 months of the current financial year, by transporting 37.41 MTs of freight commodities. This is 1.52 MTs more than the last year freight loading in the same period (35.89 MTs). The improvement in freight loading is clearly visible in all commodities like Coal, Iron Ore, Cement etc.
Simultaneously, the Zone has been constantly monitoring the passenger trends so as to introduce and operate special trains wherever required and feasible. SCR has operated 865 trips of special trains wherein 11.18 lakh passengers were carried through these trains during the first quarter of current fiscal. In addition, the Zone has been augmenting the trains with additional coaches, wherever there is demand and feasibility, leading to clearance of waitlisted passengers. In terms of Passenger revenue, the Zone achieved Rs 1485.21 Crore revenue during this period, which is 2% more than the last year (Rs 1455.15 Cr).
Shri Sandeep Mathur, General Manager, South Central Railway has expressed his satisfaction and complimented Team SCR for achieving these impressive earnings in the first quarter of the current financial year. He advised the staff and officers of all the Divisions and headquarters to maintain the same tempo so as to achieve the best performance by the end of the financial year.
